My Art 201 clinical experience required me to co-teach two lessons to k-5 elementary students. My co-teacher and I centered our lessons around the idea of using individual pieces to create a collaborative artwork. Our k-2 students were given blank butterflies to decorate using various coloring utensils or by shaping construction paper. They were instructed to think about symmetry and how these butterflies would correspond with each other in one large mural. Our 3-5 students were given blank feathers, white and black, to decorate with designs that symbolize their personality. They were also instructed to think about how these feathers would work with each other in a mural.

Our lessons were successful and the students were engaged and excited. We thought on our feet to mold the lesson to early finishers, and slow paced students. We also adapted our lesson to both English and Spanish speaking learners of all age levels. This was a fun and in depth lesson that I would love to teach again.
